Bede's Summer Camp - Lancing - English for the Future
Bede’s Summer School truly delivers an immersive international boarding experience. From the moment students arrive on campus, they are surrounded by a vibrant and highly international environment. The school carefully limits students of the same language background to no more than 20%, encouraging children to naturally communicate in English within a truly diverse setting. Each center is thoughtfully organized by age group, with courses designed to be both appropriately challenging and developmentally suitable. All teaching staff meet accredited UK standards, and the program uses the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) approach, combining English learning with engaging subjects such as science, technology, geography, and history. Through exploration, hands-on activities, and critical thinking, students improve their language skills in a meaningful and enjoyable way. The boarding campuses offer spacious and secure outdoor environments with a wide variety of activities, including sports, arts, and STEM projects, as well as 2–4 excursions each week. Beyond the classroom, students gain authentic exposure to British culture and daily life. With a high staff-to-student ratio, attentive pastoral care, modern facilities, and excellent campus environments, Bede’s ensures that every child can learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and supportive atmosphere—returning home with greater confidence, stronger English skills, and unforgettable memories.
Course Overview
English for the Future course in Lancing will enable students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills through exploring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and will allow them to take part in debates as future leaders to take action and transform the world around them. Based at Lancing College which was founded in 1848. The campus is located on a hill with wonderful views of the sea, the city of Brighton and Shoreham Airport. With its famous gothic chapel creating an air of magic and mystery, the College is built around two quadrangles in a similar style to the Oxford and Cambridge university colleges. This location is ideal for more independent teenagers.
Lessons take place in the mornings and afternoons and there is a full programme of afternoon Sports & Activities, evening Social Events and mid-week and weekend Excursions tailored to students' age and interests. All recreational activities organised by Bede's are mandatory are included in the course fee.
20 hours of lessons per week including English for the Future, Future Thinking and Project for the Future. Maximum 14 students per class. Weekly progress checks to monitor performance.

Accomodations
Lancing offers separate accommodation for boys and girls in a number of boarding houses on campus. Most bedrooms have one or two beds however, some larger bedrooms with three to seven beds are also available.
Students who share their bedroom will be with children of a similar age and from different countries which helps them to mix, speak English and build new friendships. Bathrooms are located on each floor and are shared.
A laundry service, overseen by the House Parent, is offered to students at least once per week and is included in the fee.
Every week, an unannounced fire drill will take place to make sure that students are aware of the evacuation procedure. Bede’s will decide which houses will be used for boys/girls according to the number of enrolments in each week. Some houses may be used for a particular age range.
